Ironically, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity” does not derive from Augustine. At least, no-one seems to be able to offer a citation from Augustine's opus. See, e.g., http://www9.georgetown.edu/faculty/jod/augustine/quote.html for discussion.
